Jai Hyung LEE is a senior foreign attorney in the Finance Team with specialties in the Lease & Transportation Finance Group, Cross-Border Practice and Foreign Practice. As a member of the Lease & Transportation Finance Group advises on ship finance and advises banks and shipping companies with the acquisition and financing of new buildings and second-hand ships, joint venture arrangements, cross border leases and export credit agency backed financing. In additional, drawing on a cumulative nineteen plus experience in the US and Korea, he advises banks and financial institutions on large scale cross-border financing transactions. Mr. Lee's recent cross border financing transactions include secured facility for leading Manhattan developer (unique as Korean lender was involved with both Senior and Mezzanine debt), Mezzanine facility for Australian coking coal mine and Senior facility for luxury HK high rise properties. In prior years, he has represented leading Korean conglomerates in their restructuring efforts including Hyundai Merchant Marine with its debt facility. He also advises foreign banks and other overseas clients on corporate acquisitions and spin-offs and as well Korean regulatory and general legal matters. His recent corporate transactions including advising on the minority sale of a portfolio of energy storage system project companies, minority sale of an offshore windfarm operator, M&A sale of the Korean operations of a global office supply company and joint venture in Vietnam for convenience store franchise (its first overseas market). He also practices in securitization and bankruptcy matters having advised Hanjin Shipping in its multi-jurisdictional securitization backed by freight receivables, creditors in the STX PanOcean rehabilitation proceeding and Forever 21 Korea in its liquidation.
In addition Mr. Lee spent his formative years living in Mexico and Peru and is fluent in Spanish.
